Edited by: Ivan Tesla on 18/12/2010 23:44:02 Its been about 17 hrs since I posted my updated Lammergeier (see old Lammergeier here ) to the official CCP 'Creat a Starship Contest website ... the contest submission time will soon be over and I don't want be left out because they may not have received the submission on the website (dodgy website mechanics?) or it wasn't processed in by them in time to get into the contest (etc).
How did every other person whom submitted their work find uploading to the contest site? Was it immediate or did it take a couple days before you saw it? .. or have you not seen your work, after uploading, show up at all?
EDIT: It was a large file though but still within the 5 MB limit (was 3 MB) .. it was 5 MB wasn't it? I assume that adjust the image to their website viewing system though
After submitting the website did load a page stating I had successful submitted.. but I didn't get an email notification (which I provided to them) stating the same or any information for how long it would take etc
A reply by anyone in the know would be appreciated --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. But I am not a government official."

Originally by: KaarBaak It appears the designs are named using at DTG. The newest one I could see was: 12172010-041113_252.
Which I assume is 12-17-2010, 04:11:13 (assume UTC) and some _###.
given the dates of the entries, it appears they are adding them in batches.
Compare the date/time you submitted and that should give some idea whether they missed you.

Thanks for that, though my best bet is to just resubmit again (they can dis the old one if it actually got submitted since I made some slight changes heh.. --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. Edited by: Ivan Tesla on 20/12/2010 09:16:31 Its still not up at the official contest site .... seriously, how long does it take whomever is in charge or maintains the contest website, to update it with new submissions?
All I can think of is that there must be many dozens more, nay, hundreds more images that are ready to be uploaded to the site but need to be edited (name, image size, etc) and its all all been done by one guy...? It would be at least good to know if this is the case. Has any one else submitted there work to the contest recently and has not seen it come onto the website? --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. Originally by: svetlana well, i submitted a design today and of course it hasn't shown up either, i figure it takes some time to go through the system.
but it would be nice to at least get some sort of confirmation email that the submission was received or not. when i tried submitting it failed about 5 times in a row submitting a 2.5MB file, then finally succeeded once i switched to a smaller crappy quality jpg. i hope it actually got through lol.
Thanks for the response :) At least I'm not alone yay - though now I'm wondering if it really did actually get submitted and the 'you have successfully submitted' web page was in error? :(
And yeah, an email confirmation would be appreciated. I hope at least if the files didn't actually go through, that there will be a grace period past the deadline to upload it (and get a confirmation email that it actually did submit.. and someone to actually upload the images AS THEY COME IN ... not bulk uploads... who on earth thought that was a good idea?? --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. Originally by: Destination SkillQueue I'm sure they are all hard working people and are just swamped with work right now, so the updates are a bit slow.

Thats just a tad weird... isn't it? Why even put a 'browse the entries' option if you aren't even going to update it after a time? Is there a major crisis going on with something else CCP related .. someone forgot to pay them? :)
Though I think someone forgot to lock the CCP "employee" cage pens at lights off and they made a break for it to freedom!!..and that perhaps, that they had become like wild animals that had been kept too long. Perhaps, but whatever... freedom... so long an unremembered dream, was theirs... no wait thats Conan. --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. I think it gets a gold star for effort and a smiley face stamp ..and TWO MORE STARS for actually getting into the contest!!
Still don't see my ship ha! Oh well, I've put more effort into trying to get an explanation as to why this is the case - with not one forum reply from CCP or an email reply from the contest site official help email
Either CCP is dealing with an issue that is taking precedent and once explained is completely understandable why they didn't have the manpower to update the website 'when explained to us' - or - they just don't care that much about it no I don't believe that.. we'll find out soon enough since the contest is pretty much over for submissions. --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. Originally by: CCP Spitfire Hello Ivan Tesla,
I have asked people in charge of the contest to look into that matter and will get back to you as soon as I hear from them.
Thank you very much Spitfire for the response ..I just uploaded for the 3rd time now with a much more reduced image (cut it by half.. only about 600k now) - really didn't want to have a low res image on there.. hopefully the person whom picks between the hi res and the low res picks the one that looks the best I guess.
Thank you again! I'm done, beer and smokes time --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. But I am not a government official."

Ok I also uploaded the 7th view since I can't wait anymore (seeing as nothing is progressing on the official site... must be a cluster #$(@ of a job sorting it out :(
Lammergeier 7th view only
Decided to go a bit darker this time. And originally the wreck on the top right was just hard to see and not on fire with the torches on it... decided to go with a bit of 'nearly burned out' wreck on fire. Its ok, it will do the job though.. someone did a nice job of an Amarr ship on fire on DA.. can't remember who :( --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. Still not on the site mind you. I also emailed the addy given just incase there was a system issue. I'm assuming that there's actually been a glut of submissions close to the deadline and they can't cope.
Having looked at some of those that have been submitted a whole bunch didn't read the rules again. Not to mention the ones posted by people who've never seen eve let alone played it :D.
G'luck to those who have posted and prepare to have your pride and joy crucified on the forums :) in the nicest possible way of course.
Guthy
Well my ship isn't there still.. and I think its the same number (121) of ships there as the first time I submitted (I've submitted 3 times now.. all supposedly successful) - this sounds like it will probably go beyond the deadline to fix the issue, whatever it is, and the ball is pretty much in there court.
Mine is very very far from perfect but I'm happy with it :) --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. But I am not a government official."

i found this really surprising, or maybe i shouldnt have lol.
there are only 8 simple rules to the competition and you have to click past them in order to submit anything, so how could anyone spend days, weeks laboring on their art and then not bother to send in what CCP asked for?
like #5 "Entries may not use any watermarks or... signatures", so probably not a good idea to paste a huge signature in the middle of your drawing?
or #8 "Entrants will need to provide six (6) views of their entry (all in the same image)", so probably 4, or 2 or 1 is not quite the right number??
oh well, i just hope the batch that got submitted from the last week shows up soon, it's kind of nerve wracking to wonder if your submission actually went through or errored somehow with the deadline about to expire...
I've got LAMMERGEIER on the hull of my ship ... that wouldn't be considered a signature would it? It is the ships name after all (or class).. its a little hint that it would be a nice feature to see your ship name on the hull in game. But its also something to fill the gaps... I'd love to plaster the Caldari logo everywhere but that was a no no.. wasn't it?
Head is throbbing, got a headache then had a couple of beers - very smart that was. --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. But I am not a government official."

COOL that you think so :) But its my own work that wasn't influenced by anything (at least consciously?) apart from a scribble drawing I did. To be honest it reminds me of of a Klingon warbird more :P Either way it doesn't put me off at all --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness. Don't get me wrong, I think it's pretty awesome. It's just quite likely EA being the evilmongers they are would probably send their lawyers to jump up and down on CCP if that got added to EVE.
Thank you :) Copyright wise - possibly, anything is possible (A shoe company could sue CCP for believing the Dominix looks like one of there shoes), but anyway there is far too much difference between the ships to be an issue... not that CCP would make it anyway since, well in current circumstances I'd say I really don't think they have the man power to do more than what they say.. I'm not even sure they have the man power to do what they say they'll do :(
Actually the biggest confusing aspect is a company like Blizzard - they have BILLIONS at there disposal (unless that money is squandered outside of the company ... which could be the case) and they still take far too long to release products.. Starcraft II is a good example..but, I tried enjoying it - some of the missions where fun (that zombie mission) but I ended up not even finishing it (was playing on hard) I just got tired of retrying missions A good mate said the same thing, he just didn't get into it.. felt more like work that enjoyment lol. Well each to his own.
Anyway, they probably spent a huge amount of money and talent on it and still didn't release what I think is an instant classic.. the first Starcraft (still have the original box in good cond. :) I played many more times over - instant classic - Starcraft II - didn't finish it.. point made. Though I'm side tracking :)
But yeah, copyright today is insane
EDIT: I got to the last mission in SC II .. replayed it over and over.. I sucked at finishing it - didn't want to play it on normal (WAAAAAAY TOO EASY!) and just didn't go back --------------------------------------------- Francis Wolcott: "I am a sinner that does not expect forgiveness.
